About Him
A few years ago, reflecting on a great career with a leading corporation, I realized that the decades of dedication and single-handedly raising my daughter have not allowed me the time to do the things I dreamt of. With my beautiful daughter blossoming into a confident young lady, and generous bonuses giving me financial independence, I escaped from the rat race to live my dreams. My planned 1-year sabbatical turned into four years of travel and adventure: motorcycling across three continents, mountain biking trails in the Alps and USA, and even climbing a few mountains (having made it 3/4 of the way up Everest, I'll have to go back...). In between I saw some amazing places, experienced fascinating cultures, and enjoyed (and also got horribly sick from!) wonderful food. But now I've realized that I did all of that on my own - something I noticed when, standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon or sipping wine at sunset on Santorini, I just wanted someone special next to me, who would squeeze my hand and also say 'wow!'.
So if you are prepared on taking a chance on a slightly out of practice bachelor, drop me a line. Despite my adventurous nature, I am an old-school gentleman who insist on opening doors for you and who will always treat you with respect. I am fit, well-groomed and dress well, although at home you'll find me in jeans and a T-shirt 90% of the time. I am very intelligent, soft-spoken, well-read, extremely honest, and just a bit eccentric. I have a sharp sense of humour, and while I do watch the big rugby and cricket games, I must admit that I don't always get it. What does get me though is good music, fine art, and a well-crafted meal. And if you don't like cooking, I'll gladly do it for both of us. The Dept of Home Affairs insists that I'm 62 years old, but I feel 48 (and 28 when blasting past kids on my mountain bike!). And just one last thing: while I guess I march to the beat of a different drum, I don't dance!
About His Ideal Match
After so many years of me-time, describing my ideal match is a bit of a shot in the dark. But that should not stop me from dreaming up my perfect companion, who would be warm, intelligent, successful, inquisitive, and still in awe of the world we live in. She'll be well groomed, trim and fit, in touch with her emotions, and willing to stand up for herself. And a bit of eccentricity will be appreciated. She should enjoy physical contact and not mind displays of affection, even in public. She'll have a sense of adventure and eager to travel the world. Even if we disagree about most things (which makes conversations and life in general so much more interesting), I will appreciate total honesty that comes from a sense of mutual respect. I do not want (or need) a housekeeper, a cook or a nanny; I would love a friend, companion and when the time is right, a lover.
